Since our move, I have had this tower staring at me in our backyard. It was time to climb it. On layovers, I’ve climbed Signal Hill (St. John’s, NFLD), did the Grouse Grind (Vancouver, B.C), Camel Back (Phoenix, Arizona), Victoria Peek (Hong Kong), Mount Masada (Dead Sea, Israel). Average time for the CN Tower ascent is 25 to 40 minutes. Capt. D climbed the 1776 steps in 17 minutes. Not bad for the “old fart” division. From a weatherman’s take, I noticed a text book increase in wind velocity, a typical temperature lapse rate (the sign from the observation deck says a change of 10° C is possible), and did you know the pressure differential from the top of the tower to its base is the same difference that drives the worse of most storms, about 60 millibars.
